Facebook: 225,920,000 fans in total for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs (April 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander have cumulative total of 225.92 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/04/2017. This total makes LaLiga Santander the second most followed European Top 5 league on Facebook, behind the Premier League, with 11.29 million fans on average per club.

Real Madrid are now the most followed Spanish club on Facebook, with 100,010,000 fans, an increase of 4,783,674 (+5%) compared to early March 2016. Real Madrid have thus overtaken FC Barcelona during the month, becoming the first European club to cross the 100 million mark fans mark on Facebook. With 4.78 million new fans in March, Real have also recorded the largest increase in one month for a club since the creation of Facebook.

Though exceeded by Real Madrid, FC Barcelona posted the best monthly gain in its history in March 2017 with 3,856,579 new fans (+4%). The club has also crossed the 100 million fans mark, as of 02/04/2017.
