The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander season have a cumulative total of 52.53 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/04/2017. This result makes LaLiga Santander the most popular European Top 5 league on Twitter, with an average of 2.63 million followers per club.

Real Madrid are the most followed LaLiga Santander club, with 22.74 million followers, up 381,333 (+1.7%) compared to the beginning of March 2017. The Madrid club is the European club with the most followers on its primary Twitter account, and the one which drew the most new followers in March.
