Twitter: 49.95 million followers in total for the 20 Premier League clubs (April 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Premier League season have a cumulative total of 49.95 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/04/2017. The Premier League is the second most followed European Top 5 league, behind LaLiga Santander, with 2.5 million followers on average per club.

Manchester United remain the most followed English club, with 10.63 million followers, up 306,862 (+3%) compared to the beginning of March 2017. Five Premier League clubs - Arsenal (2nd, 9.54 million), Chelsea (3rd, 8.28 million), Liverpool (4th, 7.08 million), and Manchester City (5th, 4.15 million), in addition to Manchester United - have more than 4 million followers.

At 3.3% (from 207,202 to 214,086), Middlesbrough are the Premier League club which registered the best percentage growth on Twitter in March 2017.
