The 42 clubs and SADs (sports limited companies) of the first two Spanish divisions had a cumulative €3.034bn in revenue during the 2015-16 season, a total increase of 15.9% compared to 2014-15, according to the 2016 LaLiga Financial Report, published by the Spanish League on 06/04/2017.

"LaLiga presents a new edition of its financial report, which includes information of the last five seasons and demonstrates a profound economic transformation of clubs and SADs. The results of the report show that the situation is much improved and strong financially," said LaLiga in presenting the report.

"The cumulative revenue crossed, for the first time, the bar of €3bn, representing an increase of nearly 50% over five years (€2.097bn in 2011-12). Furthermore, the cumulative profit before tax exceeded, the first time, €200m. In this regard, it is important to remember that in 2011-12, when this annual study began, the 42 clubs of the first two Spanish divisions had recorded losses of €135.3m," added the Spanish League.
