With €620.1m in 2015-16, Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) recorded a turnover just 5% higher than FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga), which generated €592m, according to the figures of the Football Money League 2017 from the audit and consulting firm Deloitte. The two clubs clash at the Allianz Arena in Munich in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the 2016-17 Champions League on Wednesday, 12/04/2017 (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

In 2015-16, Real Madrid dropped to third place in Europe in terms of revenue, behind Manchester United and FC Barcelona, while the Madrid club had occupied first place since 2006. Real are ranked just ahead of Bayern Munich in fourth, one place higher for the Bavarian club than in 2014-15.
