Eredivisie: Qurrent (electricity) becomes main shirt sponsor of Feyenoord Rotterdam (2017-2021)

Qurrent, a Dutch supplier of green energy/electricity, has become the main shirt sponsor of Feyenoord (Eredivisie) from the 2017-18 season, the Rotterdam club announced on 07/04/2017. The contract covers four seasons, until the end of the 2020-21 fiscal year.

The annual amount is estimated at €4.5m by Dutch media. As part of this partnership, Qurrent also becomes the shirt sponsor of the youth teams of Feyenoord Rotterdam.

Opel, which was automobile supplier to the club club since 2010, had expanded its partnership by becoming the shirt sponsor of Feyenoord and its youth teams on 05/03/2013, until the end of 2016-17 season. The annual amount of that contract was estimated at €5m, according to Dutch media.

The announcement of the partnership was not well received by some of the customers of Qurrent:

• Qurrent has a cooperative ("co-op") status, in which clients are also members of the company. Over 200 customers of the company have published negative comments on community webpage of Qurrent, as reported by the Dutch media since 07/04/2017.
