2013/14 Champions League: elimination of Lyon grants an additional €5.6m to PSG and OM

The elimination of Olympique Lyonnais by Real Sociedad (0-2, 0-2) in the Champions League play-offs, on the 28/08/2013, will grant an additional €5.6m to Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille for their share of revenues of the 2013/14 edition of the European competition.

The clubs qualified for the Champions League group stage will perceive a fixed amount (€8.6m) and a variable part, depending on the domestic market for TV rights to the competition. "This amount should reach nearly €56m for France in 2013/14," a UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) spokesman told NTF on the 29/08/2013.

2012/13 French champions Paris-SG will gain 55% of this amount, that is to say €30.8m. 2012-13 Ligue 1 vice-champions Marseille will receive 45% of this amount, €25.2m. If Olympique Lyonnais had qualified, PSG would have perceived 45% of the total amount, €25.2m (-18%), OM 35% (€19.6m, -22.2%) and Lyon 20% (€11.2m).

Not taking into account the performance bonuses of the two clubs in the competition, PSG and OM have the guarantee to receive at least €39.4m and €33.8m in revenue of the…
