VfB Stuttgart 1893 AG: Daimler to acquire 11.75% stake of the new limited company for football

The German automobile manufacturer Daimler AG will invest €41.5m to acquire 11.75% of VfB Stuttgart 1893 AG, announced VfB Stuttgart (2.Bundesliga) on 19/04/2017. This entry into the capital of the new structure of the club - a limited company solely for the football section - is dependent on obtaining an approval of at least 75% of the votes in favour of the creation of this AG at the Extraordinary General Assembly of the club, scheduled on 01/06/2017.

This would value to the proposed new company for football activities at €350m. VfB Stuttgart have set an objective to raise €100m from investors for 24.9% of VfB Stuttgart 1893 AG. In the event of non-promotion to the Bundesliga at the end of the 2016-17 season, Daimler's initial contribution would be only €10.5m for 5% of the new business entity.

Until now, the association VfB Stuttgart 1893 eV - which comprises all six sports sections of the club - holds the professional license of the football section, and owns 100% of the capital of the subsidiaries VfB Stuttgart Marketing GmbH and VfB Stuttgart Arena Betriebs GmbH (in charge of…
