Lega Serie A: Carlo Tavecchio, president of the Federation, takes charge of the League for 6 months

"Carlo Tavecchio has been named Special Commissioner of Lega Serie A. The FIGC president has been unanimously voted in for a period of six months by the Federal Council and has been given the power to nominate sub-commissioners," the FIGC announced on 21/04/2017.

This short-term appointment follows the Lega Serie A's most recent failure to elect a president at the General Assembly of 20/04/2017 in Milan (ITA). "We hoped that we would be able to elect a president but that has not been the case. I want to thank the Council for expressing their unanimity and for having reaffirmed an important concept for us, one being that the commissioning is headed by the federal president," said Carlo Tavecchio, 73 years old.

Tavecchio, in his role as Special Commissioner appointed two sub-commissioners, one in charge of administration, Michele Uva (CEO of the Italian Federation and member of the UEFA Executive Committee), the other in charge legal affairs, the lawyer Paolo Nicoletti.
