Twitter: European Top 100 clubs with the most followers (May 2017)

With 39.88 million total followers, FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) are the European club most followed on Twitter, according to data collected by News Tank Football, which offers a European Top 100 list (first division only) of the most popular clubs on this social network, as of 01/05/2017.

The data used by News Tank Football in the Top 100 include followers to a club's primary Twitter account, but also followers to additional accounts in other languages. For example, Barcelona totals fewer followers on its primary account than Real Madrid CF, ranked second overall, but the Catalan club is ahead thanks to a higher number of followers on other accounts.

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF (second with 37.70 million total followers) remain at the top of the European ranking, with more than 75 million fans together. Among the 10 most followed clubs on Twitter, Liverpool FC (Premier League) posted the best percentage growth in Paril 2017, with +10.6% of followers. All clubs in the Top 10 have more than five million total followers.
