Twitter: 51.33 million followers in total for the 20 Premier League clubs (May 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Premier League have 51.33 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/05/2017. The Premier League ranks second in the European Top 5 leagues on this platform, behind LaLiga Santander, with an average of 2.56 million followers per club.

Manchester United remain the most followed English club, with 10.99 million followers, up 361,229 (+3.4%) compared to early April 2017.

At +3.5% (from 214,086 to 221,521 followers), Middlesbrough FC were the Premier League club with the best percentage growth on Twitter in April 2017, while Manchester United earned the most followers (+361,229).

In total, the 20 Premier League clubs accumulated 1,387,566 new followers in April 2017 (+2.8%), more than the 58 clubs in Ligue 1, the Serie A TIM, and the Bundesliga combined. All 20 English clubs earned at least 6,000 followers on Twitter in the past month. West Bromwich Albion FC became the fourteenth club to reach the 600,000 followers mark (from 593,773 to 608,715).
