Belgium: Telenet and VOO to extend TV rights deals to the Jupiler Pro League for 2017-2020

The Belgian private audiovisual groups Telenet (Dutch-language) and VOO (French-language) should extend their non-exclusive TV rights agreements to the Jupiler Pro League for the 2017-2020 period, according to the Pro League meeting held on 02/05/2017. The total amount is estimated at around €76m per year over the period, an increase of about 15% from the previous cycle, according to the Belgian media on 03/05/2017. Belgian clubs are guaranteed to receive €80m per year, according to the agreement with the MP & Silva agency (see below).

All games of the Belgian top division will be broadcast live on Play Sports (Telenet) and VOO Sport (lot 1). Telenet also obtains exclusive "stand-alone" rights for internet and mobile technologies broadcasting in both languages (lot 2), in addition to the exclusive rights to broadcast, free and in Dutch language only, match summaries in magazine programmes during the weekends of the league.
