Welsh midfielder Gareth Bale has been officially presented on the 02/09/2013 by Real Madrid, who recruited the player for an estimated €91m (€84 + €7m bonus), according to Real Madrid TV, the Spanish club's official TV-channel. The player leaves Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League, ANG) and signs with Spanish 2012/13 vice-champion until 2019. Gareth Bale's salary is estimated at €11m per year.

If the amount is confirmed, it will be the second biggest transfer in football history, all championships combined. It is second only to Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid (€94m), on the 26/06/2009.

British sources announced, however, that the amount of Bale's transfer is actually £85.3m, or €100.5m.

Real Madrid have acquired, since 2000, five of the six most expensive football players in the history: Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale, Zidane, Figo and Kaka.
