CAF: Kwesi Nyantakyi (GHA) elected 1st vice-president, Hani Abo Rida (EGY) joins the FIFA Council

Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the Ghana Football Federation, has been elected the first vice-president of the CAF, at the proposal of CAF president Ahmad Ahmad (MAD), at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the African Confederation in Manama (Bahrain) in 08/05/2017. Constant Omari Selemani, President of the Football Federation of DR Congo, became the second vice-president of the CAF. Both nominations were approved by acclamation.

This first meeting of the CAF Executive Committee since the elective general assembly on 16/03/2017, which brought Ahmad Ahmad to the head of the African Confederation as the replacement to Issa Hayatou (CMR) was organised in Bahrain because that is where FIFA convenes its congress on Thursday, 11/05/2017.

Hani Abo Rida, president of the Egyptian Football Federation, has been elected a CAF member to the FIFA Council. He obtains 50 votes, against 4 for his onlu competitor, Zelkifli Ngoufonja (CMR).
