Facebook: 70.19 million fans in total for the 18 Bundesliga clubs (May 2017)

The 18 clubs in the 2016-17 Bundesliga season have a cumulative total of 70.19 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/05/2017. The Bundesliga is the fourth most popular Top 5 league on Facebook, behind the Premier League, LaLiga Santander, and Serie A TIM, with an average of 3.89 million fans per club.

Bayern Munich remain the most followed German club, with 41.92 million fans, up 448,388 (+1.1%) compared to early April 2017. Bayern drew the fifth most new fans of all clubs of the Top 5 leagues in April 2017, and the Bavarians alone comprised 65% of all new fans of Bundesliga clubs in the past month.

At 3% (from 287,250 to 295,761 fans), RB Leipzig are the Bundesliga club which posted the best percentage growth on Facebook in April 2017. Since the beginning of the 2016-17 season, Leipzig have seen a 80% increase in fans to its Facebook page (the high mark of all Top 5 league clubs), benefiting in particular from the club's strong sporting results in the Bundesliga (2^nd in the 2016-17 table after 32 matchdays).
