Facebook: 229.75 million fans in total for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs (May 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander season have a cumulative total of 229.75 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to the data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/05/2017. This total makes LaLiga Santander the second most popular European Top 5 league on Facebook, behind the Premier League, with an average of 11.48 million fans per club.

Real Madrid CF are the most followed club with 101.87 million fans, up 1,848,411 (+1.8%) compared to early April 2017. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF now together comprise over 203 million Facebook fans, or 89% of the total of all LaLiga Santander clubs, and more than the combined total of the 58 clubs in the Serie A TIM, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1.

At 9.6%, (from 41,593 to 45,582), Leganés CD are the LaLiga Santander club (and the one of the Top 5 leagues) which posted the best percentage growth on Facebook in April 2017. However, the club remains the least followed in LaLiga Santander. 12 Spanish clubs drew more than 3,000 new fans in April 2017.
