AFC: four representatives elected to the FIFA Council at the Congress held on 08/05/2017

"The Asian Football Confederation member associations have on Monday, 08/05/2017 elected Mahfuza Kiron (Bangladesh), Zhang Jian (China), Chung Mong Gyu (South Korea), and Mariano V. Araneta Jr. (Philippines) for the four places allocated to Asia on the FIFA Council at the AFC Congress 2017 in Manama (Bahrain)," announced the Asian Confederation on 09/05/2017.

This 27^th Congress of the AFC was organised upstream of the FIFA Congress, scheduled in Manama (Bahrain) on Thursday, 11/05/2017.

Zhang Jian, Chung Mong Gyu, and Mariano V. Araneta Jr. (three candidates for three seats) were elected by acclamation. Regarding the seat reserved for a woman, Mahfuza Kiron obtained the majority (27 votes) in the first round, compared to 17 votes to the Australian Moya Dodd. Han One Gyong (North Korea) and Susan Shalabi Molano (Palestine) withdrew their candidacy before the voting.
