Bundesliga: Bayern and Borussia first buyers and sellers during the 2013 summer market

During the 2013 summer transfer market (from the 11/06 to the 02/09/2013), the 18 Bundesliga clubs spent €263.3m, a 8.3% decrease compared to the 2012 summer market (€287m). As for departures, German clubs have sold players for €204.6m, or 19% more than the previous year (€172m). In total, Bundesliga has a balance of payments showing a deficit of €58.7m, or nearly two times less than in 2012 (€115m).

Bayern Munich, German 2012-13 champion, have spent €62m to acquire Barcelona player Thiago Alcantara and Mario Götze, Dortmund striker and most expensive player of the Bundesliga 2013 market summer. Borussia, vice champion last season, have invested €50m in the market, in particular to attract Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Shakhtar Donetsk, UKR) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (AS Saint-Etienne, FRA). Cumulative expenditure of both clubs represents 42.5% of total purchases in the Bundesliga.
