Premier League: Liverpool FC offer $30 version (€27.60) new shirt for the Chinese market

Liverpool FC (Premier League) are selling a $30 version (€27.60 as of 10/05/2017) of its exclusive new shirt for Chinese consumers, compared to the $87 for the classic version (€80) or $64 (€58) for the replica version, reported the British newspaper The Financial Times on 09/05/2017.

This action aims to fight "counterfeits that sell for a few dollars and undermine the ambitions of European clubs to increase their revenue in a market with strong growth," said the British newspaper.

This low price is explained by the fact that the $30-dollar shirt is made with less sophisticated materials and is not produced by New Balance, the equipment supplier of the club (logo absent on the Chinese version). On the other hand, the official shirt sponsor of the club, Standard Chartered, does appear on this shirt for the Chinese market. This product is sold exclusively on the official online store of the club in China and on the BtoC platform of the e-commerce site Alibaba Tmall.
