BT Consumer: £4.934bn in turnover in 2017 (+7.3%), 20.5% of the BT Group total (£24.062bn)

BT Consumer, the division of the British telecommunications group BT, which includes BT Sport, posted £4.934bn (€5.81bn) in turnover for the 2017 fiscal year (01/04/2016 to 31/03/2017), the group announced on 11/05/2017. This amount is up by 7.3% compared to 2016 (£4.598bn, €5.84bn at the time), and corresponds to 20.5% of BT's total turnover in 2017 (£24.062bn, €28.3bn).

BT Consumer's operating profit was £803m (€946m) in 2017, down 5% from 2016 (£831m, €1.053bn at the time). BT Consumer comprised 19.4% of BT's operating profit (£4.135bn, €4.8bn).

BT Consumer's operating costs increased by 10% on the year (£3.92bn, €4.62bn). The average annual TV audiences of the BT Sport channels, which broadcast, in the UK, the entirety of the Champions League and the Europa League each season, "increased by 12% excluding BT Showcase and streaming on digital platforms," said the group, which extended its agreement to broadcast the European cups for the 2018-2021 cycle in the United Kingdom (see below).
