Premier League: Fun88 (sports betting) to be main shirt sponsor of Newcastle United (2017-2020)

The Asian sports betting and gaming company Fun88 has become the main shirt sponsor of Newcastle United FC (Championship), on 15/05/2017. The 3-year partnership, which is at the first level of the club's sponsorship hierarchy, will come into effect from 2017-18 and will extend until the end of the 2019-20 season.

Fun88 succeeds the English consumer finance company Wonga, a partner and sponsor of the Magpies since January 2012. This deal is estimated to be £24m (€28.1m as at 16/05/2017), or £4.4m per season (€5.1m).

The financial details of the deal between Fun88 and Newcastle United have not been disclosed, but this would be an amount that will place Newcastle among the top 10 Premier League clubs in the list of biggest shirt sponsorship deals, according to local media.

Newcastle United, who were relegated to the SkyBet Championship at the end of the 2015-16 season, have already clinched their promotion and return to the Premier League for the 2017-18 season.
