The Swiss watchmaker Omega has extended as a global Olympic TOP Partner with the IOC, announced the two partners on 15/05/2017. This extension of the partnership, in the first level in the sponsorship hierarchy of the IOC, runs until 2032, an extension of 12 years, whereas the initial contract was scheduled to end in 2020. Omega has been a partner of the International Olympic Committee since 1932 and the Olympic Summer Games in Los Angeles (California, USA) of that year.

As part of this extension of the partnership, the Swiss watchmaker retains its status as the official Olympic timekeeper. "The partnership will continue the commitment by Omega to provide cutting-edge timing, scoring, and in-venue results system and equipment, which are critical for the success of the Olympic Games," stated the IOC. The annual amount of the partnership is estimated at more than $20m (€18m on 16/05/2017) by specialised media.
