Serie A: 7 clubs question Infront role as media rights advisor

Seven clubs from Serie A have questioned the role of Swiss agency Infront Sport as broadcast rights adviser to the league, in a letter to Mauricio Beretta, who was reelected president of the Lega Serie A (Italian professional league which manages the Italian Serie A) on the 18/01/2013, and to the 13 other clubs of the championship, on the 28/08/2013.

The seven teams are Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Juventus, AS Roma, Sampdoria, Sassuolo and Hellas Verona. Infront Italy is adviser on domestic and international broadcast rights sales for Serie A, Serie B, the Italian Cup, the Italian Super Cup and the Primavera championship (youth). The six-year contract covers the 2010/11 to 2015/16 seasons.

In their letter, the seven clubs call for a fresh assessment of the Serie A’s media rights strategy, highlighting the increasing gap with the English Premier League when considering the revenue of both domestic and international rights. They judge "excessive" the 35m commission the League paid Infront for selling the 2012-2015 media rights to the Italian championship.
