FIFA: 10,454 international transfers recorded in 2013, in line with 2012

FIFA TMS (Transfer Matching System), FIFA's (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) recording platform of international transfers processed 10,454 international player transfers since the 01/01/2013, the international body indicated on the 03/09/2013.

The amount of international transfers is stable compared to the first eight months of 2012 (10,513 transfers, -0.6%). In 2013, 5,018 clubs from 164 countries participated in international player transfers.

The total transfer fees declared in 2013 amounted to $3.367bn (around €2.55bn), a 29% increase compared to 2012 ($2.619bn, around €1.99bn).

From the 01/01/2013 to the 02/09/2013, that is to say, by combining the transfer market in January 2013 and the summer transfer market, declared commission paid to club intermediaries reached $169m (€128m), a 20% increase compared to 2012 (€107m). Between 2011 ($94m, €71.3m) and 2013, commissions paid to intermediaries clubs were up 80%.

The main transfer streams have involved players from Portugal to Brazil (132 transfers for a total of $1.3m, or €0.98m) and Argentina to Chile (98)…
