LaLiga: New Balance succeeds Nike as the equipment supplier to Athletic Club Bilbao (2017-2023)

The American sports equipment manufacturer New Balance has succeeded its counterpart Nike as the official equipment supplier to Athletic Club Bilbao (LaLiga Santander), announced the Basque club on 22/05/2017. This partnership, in the first level of the club's sponsorship hierarchy, will span six seasons, from 2017-18 until the end of the 2022-23 season.

The deal is estimated to be worth €3.5m per season, according to Spanish specialised media, compared to €2.5m per season with Nike during the 2013-2017 period, a 40% increase.

As part of the partnership, New Balance will equip all Athletic Club teams with match kit, training wear, and lifestyle apparel. Athletic Club will join Sevilla FC among the LaLiga Santander clubs under contract with New Balance.

Nike (2013-2017) succeeded Umbro, an American brand of British origin, as the equipment supplier to Athletic.
