Belgium: King Power Group acquires the club OH Leuven (Proximus League, 2nd Division)

The general meeting of Oud-Heverlee Leuven (Proximus League) unanimously approved the acquisition of the club by Thai investment group King Power, on 16/05/2017. King Power Group already owns the English club Leicester City FC (Premier League).

"OHL chose the project that offered the most guarantees for the future of the club, both in terms of sport and finances. The project aims to raise enough funds to get the club back to the Jupiler Pro League as quickly as possible, and to guarantee that we can keep our youth academy at the highest level," said OHL.

"The King Power Group will be based within the municipality, which is of priority, in order to collaborate with the different support groups and for the development of the youth academy, all of which are linked to the big sporting ambitions of the club at the firrst team level," added the club.

  • OHL finished second in a Play-Out group consisting of four Proximus League teams.
    • The club will play in the Proximus League during the 2017-18 season.
