UEFA: German Nadine Angerer won the first UEFA Best women's player in Europe award for 2012/13

German international goalkeeper Nadine Angerer has won the first UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Best women's player in Europe award for the 2012-13 season, on the 05/09/2013.

The captain of the German team topped the vote from a jury composed of 18 journalists, during the draw for the 2013/14 Women's Champions League round of 16th, on the 05/06/2013 at the headquarters of the European body in Nyon (Switzerland).

The 34-year-old player got 10 votes, ahead of German midfielder Lena Goessling (VfL Wolfsburg) and Lotta Schelin, the Swedish striker for Olympique Lyonnais (2 votes).

Winner with her selection of 2013 Women's Euro in Sweden on the 28/07/2013, Nadine Angerer was elected player of the tournament by the UEFA technical team, on the 30/07/2013. She just left 1. FFC Frankfurt for Brisbane Roar in Australia.

  • For men, UEFA Best player in Europe award, created in partnership with ESM (European Sports Media), was awarded for the first time after the 2010/11 season.
  • It awards the best player playing in a club of the UEFA territory, regardless of nationality.
