The 20 LaLiga Santander clubs recorded an average of 28,109 spectators per game during the 2016-17 season, an extremely stable figure (-3 spectators per game) compared to 2015-16. LaLiga Santander is third among the European Top 5 leagues, behind the Bundesliga (41,492 spectators per game) and the Premier League (35,819).

With an average of 78,504 spectators per game at Camp Nou (99,354 capacity, 79% fill rate), FC Barcelona are the Spanish club with the highest attendance in the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander. For the fourth consecutive season, Barça finished second in the European Top 5, behind Borussia Dortmund (79,653 spectators at the 81,360-seater Signal Iduna Park, representing a 98% fill rate).

Real Madrid CF (second, 71,591 spectators per game) is the only other club in LaLiga Santander to be among the top 15 among the European Top 5 leagues in 2016-17 (5th). The club's 2016-17 attendance increased by 1,821 on average (+2.6%). The Madrid club is also one of six Spanish clubs to have a stadium fill rate of over 80%.
