Ligue 1: 21,208 spectators per game on average (+1.5%) and a fill rate of 68% in 2016-17

The 20 Ligue 1 clubs recorded an average attendance of 21,208 spectators per game during the 2016-17 season, an increase of 314 spectators per game on average (+1.5%) compared to 2015-16 (20,894 spectators pergame). This total makes Ligue 1 last in the European Top 5 leagues in terms of attendance in 2016-17 - the same as in 2015-16 - however the French championship did post the best percentage increase in average attendance, ahead of the Serie A TIM (+0.3%).

With 45,160 spectators per game at the Parc des Princes (47,929 places), Paris Saint-Germain are Ligue 1 club which recorded the highest attendance in 2016-17. Paris Saint-Germain ranked 17^th in attendance amount the 98 clubs in the European Top 5 leagues in 2016-17, even though was down 2.2% compared to its 2015-16 average attendance (46,160 spectators per game). PSG posted a stadium fill rate of 94% in 2016-17. Olympique de Marseille had the second best average attendance in Ligue 1 in 2016-17, with 39,894 fans per game. However, Marseille saw its attendance drop by 5% compared to 2015-16 (42,015 spectators per game).
