Bundesliga: 41,492 spectators per game on average (-4.2%) and a fill rate of 94% in 2016-17

The 18 Bundesliga clubs recorded an average of 41,492 spectators per game during the 2016-17 season, a decrease of 1,833 spectators on average (-4.2%) compared to the 2015-16 season (43,325 spectators). This total keeps the Bundesliga first among of the European Top 5 leagues in terms of attendance, ahead of the Premier League (35,819 spectators), but also the top division which experienced the biggest drop in average attendance, also ahead of the Premier League (-590 spectators).

The average capacity of the Bundesliga stadiums was 5.1% lower in 2016-17 (44,562 places) than in 2015-16 (46,952), due in particular to the relegation of VfB Stuttgart (Mercedes-Benz Arena: 60,449 capacity) and the promotion of SC Freiburg (Schwarzwald-Stadion: 24,000 capacity) in 2016.

With an average of 79,653 spectators per game (Bundesliga matches) at Signal Iduna Park (81,360 capacity), Borussia Dortmund are the German club which registered the best attendance in 2016-17.
