LaLiga Santander: Real Sociedad to increase the capacity of Estadio Anoeta to 42,300 by 2019

Real Sociedad de Fútbol (LaLiga Santander) will increase the capacity of the Estadio Anoeta in San Sebastian (Spain) from 32,076 to 42,300 (an increase of 31.8%), announced the club on 23/05/2017. The renovation is expected to last until October 2019.

In order to avoid a temporary relocation, Real Sociedad have broken down the construction process of Anoeta Stadium into five phases:

Phase 1: foundation work (May to September 2017)
Phase 2: construction of the new southern stand and roof elements (September 2017 - August 2018)
Phase 3: relaying of the playing field and extension of the lateral stands (May - August 2018)
Phase 4: construction of the new northern stand (October 2018 - October 2019)
Phase 5: construction of new stairwell to access the west stand and redoing the entire facades (May - October 2019)

"We are building the future of Real Sociedad, and it will be a long and difficult task, so I ask patience from the supporters, and renovation is the best thing for the club," said Jokin Aperribay, president of Real Sociedad, on 23/05/2017.
