Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander), the winners of the 2016-17 Champions League by defeating Juventus (Serie A TIM) in the final (4-1), at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff (Wales) on 03/06/2017, have won their 12th title of the competition (European Champion Clubs' Cup from 1955-56 to1991-92, then Champions League since 1992-93), which is a record. It is also the 17th victory by a Spanish club, which represents another record.

After winning the 2016 Champions League, Real are the first team to win two consecutive UEFA Champions League titles since AC Milan in 1989 and 1990. The Spanish club maintains its perfect record in the Champions League final since the inception of the competition in 1992-93: six victories in six finals contested (in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2014, 2016, and 2017). AC Milan are the only other club to have played in six finals, but with only three victories.

The win by Real Madrid is the fourth consecutive by a Spanish club: 2014, 2016, and 2017 by Real, plus 2015 by FC Barcelona. No other country has won the Champions League even two consecutively, since 1992-93.
