Twitter: 54.44 million followers in total for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs (June 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Laliga Santander season have a cumulative 54.44 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/06/2017. This result makes LaLiga Santander the most popular European Top 5 League on Twitter, with an average of 2.72 million followers per club.

Real Madrid CF are the most followed Laliga Santander club, with 23.58 million followers, up 411,489 (+1.8%) compared to the beginning of May 2017. The Madrid club is the European club with the most followers on its main Twitter account.

FC Barcelona are the only club in the Top 5 leagues whose main account (the one with the most followers) is not in its own language, since Barcelona total more followers on its English account (21.4 million) than on the Spanish account. Real Madrid and Barcelona together comprise 82% of the total followers of LaLiga Santander clubs on their main account, and more than the 58 clubs in the Serie A TIM, Ligue 1, and Bundesliga combined.
