Twitter: 52.35 million followers in total for the 20 Premier League clubs (June 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Premier League have 52.35 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/06/2017. The Premier League ranks second in the European Top 5 leagues on this platform, behind LaLiga Santander, with 2.61 million followers on average per club.

Manchester United FC remain the most followed English club, with 11.25 million followers, up 257,744 (+2.3%) compared to the beginning of May 2017. Five Premier League clubs - Arsenal FC (2nd, 9.98 million), Chelsea FC (3rd, 8.66 million), Liverpool FC (4th, 7.40 million), and Manchester City FC (5th, 4.31 million), in addition to Manchester United - have more than 4 million followers, the same number of clubs on the other Top 5 leagues combined over this amount of followers.

At 2.5%, Tottenham Hotspur FC (from 1,962,531 to 2,012,500) and Crystal Palace FC (from 502,739 to 515,520) were the Premier League clubs which registered the best percentage growth on Twitter in May 2017, while Manchester United are the club which gained the most new followers (257,744).
