Brand Finance: Real Madrid the most powerful brand, Manchester Utd the most valuable brand (€1.55bn)

Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) have become the most powerful football brand in 2017 according to the American company specialising in brand valuation, Brand Finance, who published its annual "Football 50" report on 06/06/2017.

Real Madrid moved to first place, which was occupied by FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) in 2016, said Brand Finance. The brand strength index (BSI, see below) of Real Madrid increased from 94.6 (AAA+) in 2016 to 96.1 (AAA+) in 2017, helped by winning the 33^rd Spanish league title and the 12^th Champions League title. Barcelona are second with a BSI of 95.4 (AAA+), Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) are third (92.1, AAA+), and Manchester United (Premier League) are fourth (91.4, AAA+).

Among the most valuable football brands for 2017 (see below), Manchester United hold top spot, worth €1.551bn. Real Madrid, worth €1.271bn, are 2^nd, ahead of Barcelona (€1.269bn).
