SIS 2017: "We need the broadcasters to understand the added value" (J. Newman, Facebook)

"To attract more rights holders and broadcasters to our platform (Facebook), we need these organisations to work on it to understand the added value," said Jerry Newman, EMEA sports partnership lead at Facebook, during the 2017 Sport Innovation Summit organised by the Mexican digital marketing and event company specialising in sports innovation, Moveo Lab, at the Auditorium Paris Centre Marceau (Paris, FRA), on 07/06/2017.

"The games (2017 MLS) that Univision publish on our platform are in English, an option that was not available to the US audience (Univision co-broadcasts 22 matches of the 2017 MLS regular season via the Facebook Live video streaming service in the United States). Univision acquired the broadcast rights to the MLS in two languages but never made it available in English, only persuing with a Spanish pay-TV deal. We worked with Univision so that they could test our tools and monetise their content," said Facebook's sports partnership director for Europe - Middle East - Africa.
