Qatar 2022: ECA asks FIFA to take the time to consult with all stakeholders

ECA (European Club Association) has asked FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) about the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, "to take the time for a proper, serious and thorough consultation with all stakeholders before choosing what's best for football", on the 10/09/2013.

The question of the organization of the XXIIth World Cup in winter, to avoid temperatures that can reach 50 °C in summer in Qatar, was raised by the ECA during the 11th General Assembly on the 09 and 10/09/2013, in Geneva (Switzerland).

"The Association has taken due note of the recent discussions regarding a possible moving of the 2022 World Cup from summer to winter. ECA will discuss and develop with all European football parties (federations, leagues and players), a common position on the issue," said ECA on the 10/09/2013.

"A meeting of UEFA's (Union of European Football Associations) executive committee is scheduled on the 19 and 20/09/2013 (in Dubrovnik, CRO). We believe this will be the right time to discuss the issue in detail. A democratic process of consultation is the only way. We're in no…
