Roland-Garros 2017: Rafael Nadal gaines the most Twitter followers during the French open

Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, winner of the 2017 edition of Roland-Garros (from 28/05 to 11/06/2017), gained 191,738 Twitter followers between 29/05 and 14/06/2017, the most followers on the social network among the ATP players.

The winner of the French Open for the 10^th time, Nadal was ahead of Serbian Novak Djokovic (+159,583 followers), eliminated in the quarter-finals by Austrian Dominic Thiem, and Switzerland's Roger Federer (+114,882 followers), absent from the Grand Slam. The fourth highest was the 44-year-old Indian Leander Paes (+64,157 followers), eliminated in the second round of the men's doubles category.

In relative terms, the Russian Karen Khachanov (+19.9%), eliminated in the round of 16 by Andy Murray, gained the most Twitter followers. Argentina's Renzo Olivo, who beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the first round, was next highest (+19.4%), followed by Dominic Thiem (+4.4%), who was eliminated in the semi finals by Rafael Nadal. The 23-year-old Austrian, who is ranked World number 8, also gained the 8^th highest number of twitter followers in absolute terms (+6,445…
