Japan: Perform (DAZN) acquires TV rights to the 2018-2021 European cups

Perform has acquired the broadcast rights, in Japan, to the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and European Supercup for the 2018-2021 cycle, according to the British group specialised in the production and distribution of sports content on digital platforms, on 15/06/2017. The matches will be broadcast on DAZN, its sports OTT platform, launched in Japan on 23/08/2016.

Sky Deutschland has acquired the broadcast rights from UEFA to the UEFA Champions League for the 2018-2021 period, according to the German pay-TV group on 13/06/2017. Perform, has acquired a sub-license from Sky for a part of the matches it will broadcast on its sports OTT platform DAZN. Perform and Sky Deutschland could pay €600m for the 2018-2021 Champions League TV rights in Germany, according to the US economic website Bloomberg on 19/05/2017.

Perform Group acquired the domestic broadcasting rights to the first three Japanese divisions (Meiji Yasuda J1 League, Meiji Yasuda J2 League, and Meiji Yasuda J3 League) and the play-offs between the different divisions of the Japanese Professional Football League…
