Brazil 2014: nine teams already qualified, including Argentina, Italy and the Netherlands

Italy and the Netherlands are the first two European teams to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, two days before the end of the qualifiers, on the 10/09/2013. With its victory over the Czech Republic (2-1) in the Juventus Stadium in Turin, Italy is guaranteed to finish top of Group B in the European zone. The Netherlands beat Andorra (0-2) at the Estadio Comunal de Aixovall and finish first of Group D.

The United States and Costa Rica are the first two countries in the CONCACAF (North America, Central and Caribbean Confederation) to qualify. The American team beat Mexico (2-0) and Costa Rican team tied (1-1) against Jamaica, on the 10/09/2013.

In South America, Argentina qualified by beating Paraguay (2-5), already eliminated, on the 10/09/2013, and is the first CONMEBOL country (South American Football Confederation) to qualify its participation in the 2014 World Cup, as Brazil is automatically qualified, as host country.

Finally, Jordan eliminated Uzbekistan in the play-offs in Asia (9 penalties to 8, 1-1, 1-1) and will play a qualifier intercontinental play-off for the 2014 World Cup…
