IFAB: "play fair!" programme envisages the introduction of new Laws of the Game

Creation of the "penalty goal if a player stops a goal being scored by handling the ball on or close to the goal-line", the possibility of passing to yourself at a free-kick, corner, or a goal-kick without necessarily shooting or passing the ball to a teammate, are among the innovations concerning the Laws of the Game by FIFA and the International Football Association Board and featured in the "Play fair" programme, discussed by Marco van Basten, chief technical development officer of FIFA, in St. Petersburg (RUS), on 15/06/2017.

"The 'play fair!' initiative is a plan for football. This strategy aims to promote fairness and integrity, ensure the game is accessible to everyone and optimise the use of technology. Since its approval, FIFA and The IFAB have elaborated on the first stage of discussions and trials, which focus on improving player behaviour and increasing respect, increasing playing time, and increasing fairness, and keeping the game attractive," said the former Dutch striker.
