Serie A TIM: the League postpones the awarding of domestic TV rights for 2018-2021

"Considering that the bids submitted did not represent the real value of Italian football, the Lega Serie A General Assembly unanimously decided not to award the TV rights to the Serie A TIM (2018-2021)," said Carlo Tavecchio, special commissioner of Lega Serie A, following its General Assembly in Milan (ITA), on 10/06/2017.

The tender document for the centralised sale of the domenstic TV rights in Italy to the 2018-2021 Serie A TIM, published by the Lega Serie A on 26/05/2017, consisted of five exclusive lots with the deadline for bids to be submitted fixed at 10:00 CET, on Saturday, 10/06/2017.

The call for bids, which included at least one lot per broadcast mode and platform (satellite, DTT, and digital) and a lot valid for all these platforms (Lot D), "does not allow for a single operator to acquire all the live broadcasting rights to more than two platforms."
