The best audience for a German national team match since News Tank began carrying out its survey on 03/09/2014, was by the public TV channel ZDF for the Euro 2016 semi-final match, Germany - France (0-2), which drew 29.82 million viewers on average in Germany (around 37% of the German population), on 10/07/2016 (kick-off at 21:00 CET). Audience share: 80.6%.

This represented a new record in Germany for a Euro match. The previous record was for the Euro 2008 semi-final match, Germany - Turkey (3-2), which drew 29.46 million viewers on average on ZDF, on 25/06/2008 (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

In total, the six matches of the German national team at the Euro 2016 drew a cumulative 165.62 million viewers, or 27.6 million viewer on average per match.

Since the start of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, the free-TV channel RTL drew 8.7 million viewers on average for the German national team matches.
