LaLiga Santander: Florentino Pérez re-elected as president of Real Madrid until 2021

Florentino Pérez Rodríguez, 70 years old, has been re-elected as the president of Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) until 2021, announced the club on 19/06/2017. The electoral process was opened on 08/06/2017, Florentino Pérez Rodríguez was the only candidate in the running.

Florentino Pérez Rodríguez has already held presidency for 15 years. He has been in post since 2009 and is currently in the second term as the head of the Mardrid-based club. He was elected in 2000 but resigned midway through his second term in 2006, reasoning that Real Madrid needed a new direction.

• The conditions to become a candidate for the presidency of Real Madrid (see below) were tightened with the new statutes of the club, adopted in 2012.
• The necessary seniority as a social partner increased from 10 to 20 years in order to be a candidate for presidency and the required bank guarantees were also increased.
