Italy: the mayor of Pescara (Abruzzo) presents a new stadium project to be built by 2027

A project to build a new football stadium for Pescara Calcio (Serie B ConTe.it), who were relegated to the Italian second division for the 2017-2018 season, has been launched, announced Marco Alessandrini, the mayor of Pescara, on 12/06/2017. This stadium has to be built in the south of the city, in the immediate vicinity of an exit ramp to the ring road. The project end date is scheduled for 2027, and would cost between €150m and €200m.

Pescara Calcio currently play at the Adriatico Stadium (20,476 capacity), inaugurated on 29/12/1955. "We always had the idea to start renovations to the stadium, but then we came across a few issues. A few weeks ago the idea of building a new stadium came up, only for football, in a very nice area, south of the city, considering that the new UEFA criteria prohibits stadiums to have an athletics track. We are convinced that this is the right choice, hoping that this opinion is shared by all," explained Daniele Sebastiani, president of the club.
