LaLiga Santander: Girona FC installs hybrid pitch and lowers level for better visibility

Girona FC, promoted to play in the LaLiga Santander for the 2017-18 season will replace the natural pitch of the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi (9,200 capacity) with a hybrid pitch, announced the Catalan club on 14/06/2017. The excavation will lower the level of the pitch by 50cm to offer "better visibility", added Girona FC.

"This grass will be hybrid, with a small percentage of artificial turf (3%) that ensures an anchorage of the plant to the ground allowing it to withstand the hardest matches and the most unfavorable weather, with quick recovery in time for the next game," the club said.

The current staidum capacity of the club being less than the 15,000 required by LaLiga for a first division team, the Girone City Council (city of 100,000 inhabitants located 100km northeast of Barcelona) will forsee the extension of the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi in two phases (see below).
