Bundesliga: FC Schalke 04 will not extend kit supplier deal with adidas beyond 2017-18

FC Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) have decided not to extend the club's kit supplier deal with adidas beyond the 2017-18 season, the current contract term, said the club on 20/06/2017. The German sports manufacturing company has been a partner to the German club since the first Bundesliga season in 1963-64.

The current contract is worth an estimated €6m per season. "During our decision making process these past months, our focus has been on three crucial strategic points: appreciation, economic viability, and identity. We have therefore taken the decision to not accept the offer of renewing with adidas and would like to take the opportunity to express our sincere gratitude for the decades of cooperation, which we will of course continue successfully until the current contract ends on 30/05/2018," explained Alexander Jobst, head of marketing of FC Schalke 04, on 20/06/2017.

The US sports manufacturing company Under Armor has been quoted by the German media, since December 2015, as the next kit supplier of Schalke 04, for an estimated amount of €12m per season.
