The Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro has acquired the broadcast rights, in Spain, to the Champions League for the 2018-2021 period, according to Spanish media on 22/06/2017. The estimated amount paid by Mediapro would be between €230m and €250m per season. The Telefonica group also submitted a bit for the audiovisual rights.

UEFA had launched the bidding for the 2018-2021 audiovisual rights to the Champions League, valid in Spain, for the second time, on 20/06/2017. According to Spanish media, UEFA did not receive a satisfactory offer which reached the minimum price of €200m per season.

Atresmedia, Mediapro, and TV3 acquired the audiovisual rights, for Spain, to the Champions League for the 2015-2018 period, on 24/09/2014. The rights cover all broadcasting platforms (television, internet, and mobile). The total amount paid by the three groups is estimated at more than €135m per season, a price similar to that paid during the 2012-2015 period by the public TVE and TV3 television groups and by the pay-TV group Canal+ España (now acquired by Telefonica).
