Olympic Games: Telecom Italia (TIM) becomes official mobile broadcaster for the 2018-2020 period

The Italian telecommunications operator Telecom Italia (TIM) has become, with the American audiovisual group Discovery Communications, the official mobile broadcaster of the Olympic Games for the 2018-2020 period, announced the two groups on 26/06/2017. Discovery Communications had announced the creation of this opportunity to acquire the media rights to the Olympic Games aimed at mobile phone operators on 01/03/2017.

The agreement will concern the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang (South Korea) and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo (Japan). "The 'Official Mobile Broadcaster' designation gives TIM the exclusive opportunity to co-brand with the Olympic Rings and offer their customers a differentiated viewing experience with exclusive access to a 24/7 operator-branded linear news and highlights channel and exclusive short form content that will enable fans to follow their national heroes at home, online, and on the go. Subscribers to TIM also will have instant access to Eurosport Player," said Discovery.
