FC Schalke 04: Umbro succeeds adidas and Veltins extends naming rights deal until 2026-27

Umbro, an American brand of British origin, has become the kit supplier of FC Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) from the 2018-19 season, announced the German club at the annual general meeting of its members, on 25/06/2017. Umbro will succeed adidas, the Schalke kit supplier from 1963-64, whose contract will not be extended at the end of 2017-18.

adidas, which pays the club an annual estimated fixed amount of €5.5m during the 2012-2018 period, had proposed a two-year extension (2018-2020) to FC Schalke 04 at a fixed annual amount of €3.5m, excluding performance bonuses, according to German media.

The partnership with Umbro was concluded via the UK company GLD Group, which owns the brand's license in Germany. The duration of the contract was not formally announced, but it would be a three-year commitment (2018-2021), plus the option for an additional season (2021-22), at a fixed annual amount of €6m, according to German media.
